In "Backyard Jungle" I started with a stencil I made of some plants in my garden. I also used real plants and grasses. Finishing with lots of drawing was great fun.
Grandmother's Garden

The inspiration for "Grandmother's Garden" is from one of my fondest memories. I remember walking with my grandma in the large field across from her house. This field was bursting with Queen Anne's lace! For this print, I dried Queen Anne's lace and various grasses. I used them to block out the brown ink. I added detail, shading and highlights after the ink was dry.
Grandmother's Garden Revisited

In "Grandmother's Garden Revisited" I reused the same flowers and grasses to block out the green ink. Because the plants were used with brown ink, they carried that color to the new print.
